Ducab, DEWA and ADWEA have signed a joint venture to manufacture high voltage cables in Dubai.
A 22,000m2 manufacturing factory is currently being built in Jebel Ali and will serve the newly formed company, Ducab –HV.
“As the population in the region continues to grow, so too does the demand for electricity and power. We believe that the only way to meet this growing demand is with a strategically located facility that uses state of the art equipment,” Ducab chairman Ahmed Al Sheikh said.
The factory is expected to be completed and operational in late 2010.
Saeed Al Darmaki, deputy managing director of Transco, concluded: “By replacing the need for imported cables, the new plant will play a key role in supporting the nation’s economy.”
