TransGlobe Energy Corporation has confirmed yesterday’s announcement by the Yemeni government that the country’s main export pipeline has been repaired, and that production at it’s S-1 block has resumed.
According to a company statement, Calgary-based TransGlobe was advised on 16 July that the export pipeline from Marib to the Ras Issa facility on the Red Sea was repaired on 15 July. The operator of Block S-1 began shipping sales crude oil on 16 July and commenced production from the An Nagyah field. The operator is currently ramping up production from the field and is producing approximately 8,300 barrels of oil per day (of which 2,075 are TransGlobe’s) yesterday morning.
The resumption of production, while in very early stages, will cheer the Saleh government, which has been starved of it’s main source of revenue since the Maarib pipeline to the Aden refinery by the Red Sea was sabotaged by disgruntled tribesmen in March.
