In its hopes to expand business into the Middle East, Aberdeen based Walker Technical Resources (WTR), a leading composite pipe repair solutions provider, has appointed Professor Simon Frost as their new Technical Director. He will now act as a specialist consultant for WTR’s global projects.

Prior to his new appointment, Frost spent 16 years at Shell as Principal Mechanical/Materials and Corrosion Engineer and a total of 23 years in the oil and gas industry. WTR hopes that such experience will help the company expand geographically and into new market segments.

“Before the end of this year we aim to set up service distribution offices in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, [and] United Arab Emirates,” said Graham Birnie, WTR managing director. At present WTR exports to countries including Egypt, Oman, Qatar and Libya. Hopes are that by the end of 2009, turnover will be around US $10 million.
