Downhole monitoring specialist Zenith Oilfield Technology has secured more contracts and seven new well trials in the Middle East, it announced in a statement.

The Aberdeenshire, Scotland based company has won a major contract for supply of its Z-Sight technology, following successful well trials in Kuwait.  The company also secured a further seven Z-Sight trials with major operators in the Middle East and India.

“As the Z-Sight technology takes off in these regions it is expected to add an additional US$4 million to the organisation’s turnover in the next two years,” the statement read.

Formed in 2004, Zenith designs, assembles and supports high-spec technology related to the gathering and analysis of downhole data and the design of completions equipment.

“Zenith’s experts pioneered Z-Sight as a one-stop device for optimising and protecting artificially-lifted wells, taking artificial lift firmly into the future of the digital oilfield,” the statement said.

Julian Cudmore, New Technology manager at Zenith said: “Our order books are filling up and news that we have installations planned for six new wells in the Middle East with two operators, and a further trial in India is a fantastic opportunity for Zenith. We are excited at the prospects these new markets may bring. Two systems for Oman have already been successfully installed with our customer delighted with the results. Things are looking very promising for this exciting new technology.”

Cudmore explained the benefits of Z-Sight saying: “In the well lifting operations industry good information is vital to production optimisation and improving equipment runlife. Z-Sight provides an efficient management tool, in a one-look screen which provides real time recommendations on how best to operate the well to achieve optimum production within the limitations of the lifting equipment. The technology is a major step forward into the realms of the automated digital oilfield for the artificial lift branch of the oil industry.”

Z-Sight offers remote access and control through the web, giving operators complete control of their operations in an instant, claims Zenith. They are immediately notified by e-mail or SMS when a well shuts down and production is being lost.

Cudmore added: “Our endeavours in promoting Z-Sight in South America have paid off, with two major operators in Columbia and Ecuador agreeing to install the Z-Sight systems on their wells. This is a fantastic opportunity to show how Zenith is leading the way in moving artificial lift into the digital oilfield.”

With 70 staff operating out of 30 countries, the majority of Zenith’s workload comes from oil and gas operators and service companies working and producing in the Middle and Far East.
