Exhibiting at its first SAOGE event this year was Okazaki Manufacturing Company, displaying an extensive range of highly accurate products relating to the measurement and generation of temperature. “Our products cover the full and varied spectrum of all today’s industrial sectors, explained Ashley Richards, project engineer at OMC.
Richards said the SAOGE event is a timely opportunity to engage with regional customers.
“In the last four months a new standard which governs the whole process industry has emerged. Previously this hadn’t changed since 1974. The latest revision will impact everybody. A lot of the national oil companies will specify that vendors must meet their criteria, but those specifications are now 35 years out of date,” warned Richards.
One of the reasons Okazaki exhibited at SAOGE 2010 was to meet with clients such as Saudi Aramco and SABIC and discuss the implications of these changes. “Filtering the message through our core markets is one of the key objectives of being here. We don’t necessarily expect orders to be made here at the show, but rather meet with our end-users, who we have invited along, and try and build knowledge about our product development,” he added.
The company has had significant success in the Middle East’s key energy fields, particularly in Saudi Arabia, where two large orders for Saudi Armco and SABIC have positioned the firm for an excellent 2010 – 2011 period.
“We have recently secured a major order from Samsung for the Jubail Export Refinery, and we also have a big order for replacement parts for SABIC,” revealed Richards.
Success in the Middle East has not been restricted to Saudi Arabia, with a major order this year coming out of Abu Dhabi. “Very recently we secured an order with GASCO for a tank farm in Abu Dhabi,” says Richards. It is a tough economy, and margins have been squeezed, but in terms of volumes 2010 has been really a very buoyant year for us in the Middle East.”
