A power industry expert has picked out Saudi Arabia and Iraq as the countries with the most potential for business.
ABB head of power systems Noaman Amjad has pinpointed the two countries for future growth, and has revealed that his firm is looking to increase its activity in both.
“One of the biggest I would say is Saudi Arabia, the whole population of Saudi is very big and its also a very young population so they need jobs and a future for them. We sustainable growth there,” he said.
“Iraq is the wild card. We should see an upturn in activity in Iraq and it’s a huge market. There is huge potential there,” he added.
Amjad also believed that the Middle East is now looking at alternative sources for its power: “We see a move away from the oil and gas, from the fossil fuels. We feel that the Gulf will try to use this fuel to turn it into higher end value products, therefore they will move towards alternative forms of energy such as wind, solar and nuclear.”
