Recent news that both Bulgaria and Poland have been courting Qatar and their massive gas reseves must have set alarm bells ringing at Gazsprom. The Russian oil and gas giant is sitting on the world’s largest gas reserves and currently provides the European Union with 25% of its gas.
However, the price row that erupted with Ukraine disrupted the supply of gas to the many countries who recieve Russian gas via pipelines that run through the country.
As a result Qatar find themselves in an excellent position to take advantage. With gigantic gas reserves and an ever improving infrastructure being put in place to process and then ship the gas, the Gulf sate could stand to benfit enormously from Russia’s frequent fits of pique.
