Algerian state-owned energy giant Sonatrach has struck oil in Libya’s Ghadamès Basin, according to a statement released to the press by the company. 

Sonatrach and the Libyan National Oil Corporation made the strike after drilling A1-65/02 located in Ghadamès basin, around 230km south of Libyan capital Tripoli the release added.

The comapny also said that tests carried out in these wells (Mamouniyat reservoir) gave through choke size of 28/64, 8.25 m3 flow per hour (1344 bpd) of oil and 2097m3 per hour (1.88 MMscf per day) and choke of 32/64, a flow of 10.04 m3 per hour (1518 bpd) and 2561 m3 per hour (2.17 MMscf per day). The wells’ final depth is of 2753 metres (9033 feet).
