Saudi Aramco announced the postponement of the ceremony to launch King Abdulaziz Cultural Center and Aramco’s new projects due to inclement weather conditions, according to Saudi Gazette.
A source said Saudi Aramco’s ceremony to launch King Abdulaziz Cultural Center and Aramco’s new projects was scheduled to be held last weekend.
“The event was postponed due to the unstable weather condition as there was heavy rain in the Eastern Province,” said the source.
The source also said Saudi Aramco was scheduled to announce its new projects in Khirais, Minaifah and Al-Shiba.
Social media users were tweeting pictures of the effect of the heavy rain on Saudi Aramco’s site in Dhahran.
Saudi Aramco has not determine a new date for the ceremony yet. It will launch its new project to develop Minaifah Naval Plant for Petroleum, said the source.
The source also said Saudi Aramco will also launch its project on the gas laboratory in Wasit, its project on developing Khirais Petroleum produce, its project on Al-Shiba facility for the exploration of natural gas, its project on Al-Shiba and the launching of King Abdulaziz International Cultural Center.
“Saudi Aramco’s new projects are in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The projects will provide jobs for Saudis.
“The plans are also in line with Aramco’s vision to be the leading company in petrochemicals worldwide by 2020,” said the source.
Informed sources told Arab News that an investigation will be conducted and in case of negligence, those responsible will be held accountable.
Minister of Energy and Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih apologised both on his behalf and on that of Saudi Aramco to the guests who had come to attend the inaugural ceremony.
Al-Falih tweeted, ‘King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) is a renowned and unique world site. We are looking forward to launching it to citizens soon in an honorable manner.’
