Honeywell today announced a contract extension to provide its UniSim Design process simulation software to Shell Exploration & Production (E&P) through 2015. The simulation platform will be used by all of Shell E&P’s global sites to design and test plant processes.
UniSim Design allows plant and process engineers to create and improve manufacturing processes implemented within industrial facilities. Shell E&P designated UniSim Design as its preferred simulation technology in 2007. Since then, it has been used by more than 1,000 Shell simulation users worldwide to facilitate best-in-class work practices for optimized plant design and operation.
UniSim Design allows engineers to create and analyze both steady-state and dynamic models for plant design, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, operational improvement, business planning and asset management. The system is a component of the UniSim family of software and engineering services designed for the oil and gas production, gas processing, petroleum, refining and chemical industries.
“Shell E&P is among the global leaders and innovators in using simulation technology, and its feedback over the years has helped to shape and enhance UniSim Design’s capabilities,” said Francois LeClerc, director of advanced solutions at Honeywell Process Solutions.
“This contract extension illustrates the strategic role that simulation technology can play in helping manufacturers meet business objectives.”
