Shell is expected to start exporting liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Dubai from Qatar by the end of this year, according to a source close to the company.

“We will start exporting about 4.5 million tonnes of gas to Dubai by the end of this year, and it will be stored in a floating terminal located in Jebel Ali,” the source told Arabianoilandgas.com. “The gas will be sourced from Qatar Gas 4, and the contract will be for 15 years,” he added.

The source said that Abu Dhabi is not part of the deal.

Qatar Gas 4 is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum which controls 70% of the company, with Shell holding 30%.
