Iran hopes to boost its natural gas production to Qatar’s level by early next year, oil minister Bijan Zanganeh has recently said.

The Islamic Republic is prioritising production of natural gas from the South Pars gas field, which it shares with Qatar, Zangeneh has said.

Moreover, Iran also plans to increase its crude oil production to 4mn bpd by 2019 and 4.28mn bpd by 2020, along with boosting condensate output to 1mn bpd by as early as 2018, Zanganeh told an energy industry event recently.

Tehran’s crude output is currently at 3.8mn bpd and condensate output at 688,000 bpd, he said.

The minister also said new oil and gas contracts for international and domestic companies would focus on enhancing rates of oil recovery.

Ali Kardor, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company has previously said that Iran expects to tender the new contracts by the end of November.
