Qatar ready for energy boom says minister

Mohammed Al Sada says Gulf state committed to energy challenge

The local Qatari newspaper The Peninsula reported that Mohammed Al Sada, Minister of State for Energy and Industry Affairs in Qatar was speaking at an energy conference in the Gulf state.

“It will be a tremendous challenge to meet these growing needs while also reducing the impact on the environment. The State of Qatar has been committed and will remain committed to helping the world meet these challenges,” Al Sada is quoted as saying.

The minister also said that 2010 would be an important year for Qatar and would see of the country’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) trains completed and operational.

“This can only reflect the great efforts we are taking to develop our gas industry. This is in cooperation with our partners from major oil and gas companies, for whom we have great respect and appreciation for their significant role in collaborating with us to develop our oil and gas resources,” he is quoted as saying.

Al Sada also pointed to the Qatar National Vision 2030 report would provide a framework for the implementation of strategies aimed at boosting the country’s energy output.
