A senior Iranian oil official has announced the operation of Iran’s new plan for increasing daily oil production in the Arabian Gulf.

Iran’s official Mehr News Agency quoted Mahmoud-Reza Haghighi, director of Siri oil field in the Iranian Offshore Company as saying that the enterprise has plans to boost oil production to 3000 barrels per day in its Alvand oil field.

“By equipping four wells of Alvand oil field with internal pumps, daily production of crude oil at the sea has reached three thousand barrels,” Haghighi said.

Stating that the wells had been equipped with pumps earlier this year, Haghighi asserted that, “With the installation of surface equipment, all wells became operational and we could achieve our goal for producing three thousand barrels a day.”

The Alvand oil field consists of two DPG/H platforms which became operational in 1997 with the aim of developing the oil field by equipping the platforms with internal pumps and digging new wells in order to increase oil production.

The Alvand oil field is believed to have a very low density of salt in oil and it enjoys a grade quality (API) of 33.5%.
Alvand Oil field is located 47 kilometers south-west of Siri oil field and 24 kilometers west of Nasr operational platform in the Arabian Gulf.
