Continuing the French theme of today’s blog posts…

As well as sporting the best moustache in the oil & gas industry, Christophe de Margeriem, the CEO of French supermajor Total, is also regarded as one of the hydrocarbons sector’s most forward thinkers.

In a recent interview with the UK newspaper The Times, the “Big Moustache” (as he is affectionately known by the employees of Total) stated that demand for hydrocarbons in Old Europe had peaked and that the supermajors now need to concentrate on emerging markets such as China and India to earn profits as well as invest in other energy forms such as renewables and nuclear power.
