Total E&P Qatar has signed a joint venture agreement with Qatar Petroleum (QP) for enhanced oil recovery from the offshore Al Khalij field.
The JV will see Total operate the field with a 40% stake, while QP will hold 60%.
‘There is clearly a willingness to make the most of it in terms of oil recovery, without any compromise on safety and with a strict investment discipline,” said Guillaume Chalmin, managing director of Total E&P Qatar.
The Al Khalij field which started production 17 years ago is located 130km offshore Qatar, producing 23,000 barrels per day (bpd).
