Kuwaiti oil workers threaten strike action

Workers to stage sit-in protests if promises over pay are not honoured

The Kuwait Times reported that Khalid Al-Hajeri warned Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, the minister of oil and of information in a statement released to the press that unless promises made regarding increases in workers’ danger allowances and backdated payments are honoured, workers will stage sit-in protests.

The statement also said that the minister had promised the additional payments in a meeting a month ago.
