Tecnicas Reunidas has signed a lump sum turn key (LSTK) conversion agreement with Borouge Abu Dhabi Polymers for the utilities and offsite contract to expand the Borouge 2 facility, which is under construction.
The contract the Spanish general contractor signed includes the supply of main auxiliary systems and interconnections for the facilities. “Upon the completion of Borouge 2 in 2010, Borouge’s production capacity will triple to over two million tonnes of polyolefins,” Abdulaziz Alhajri, the Borouge CEO said.
He added that this increase in capacity will enable the firm to supply products for “an increasingly wide range of applications” in all its target markets.
Under the agreement the previous open book estimate (OBE) contract, worth US$1.390 billion, was converted to LSTK. Borouge 2 is a petrochemical complex located in the Ruwais area of Abu Dhabi.
