Italian oilfield services company Saipem has appointed Alessandro Puliti as CEO, the company announced on August 31. Puliti will succeed Francesco Caio, who has resigned with immediate effect “due to new upcoming professional commitments.”
Puliti will also continue in his current role as general manager of the group, Saipem noted in the press release.
Prior to joining Saipem in February this year, Puliti spent about three decades first at Agip and then its parent energy giant Eni, including as COO for natural resources and chief upstream officer.
In the press release, Saipem thanked Caio, who was appointed the company’s CEO in 2021, for his contributions and applauded his commitment in implementing the necessary strategic and organisational changes needed to lead the company relaunch.
The company in late July confirmed its 2022 guidance and business plan targets after posting a first-half adjusted core profit of $325 million.
Saipem is controlled by Eni and Italian state lender CDP.
Earlier this month, Saipem was awarded one onshore and two offshore EPC contracts worth $900 million by the Azule Energy-led New Gas Consortium for the Quiluma & Maboqueiro fields development project off the northwest coast of Angola.
