Kurdistan government gives green light to commencing export

Exports of oil from the Tawke and Taq-Taq oil fields in the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, are set to commence under the operation of Norway’s DNO International. The independent oil company was given the go-ahead by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) yesterday, with exports due to commence by June 1 2009.

KRG has also instructed DNO to complete any outstanding work and undertake all necessary preparations to ensure safe and smooth operations.

“I m pleased to confirm that from today, May 10 2009, I have received two letters from the Ministry of Oil in Baghdad, stating that exports of oil from the Tawke and Taq-Taq oil fields in Kurdistan should be expedited,” said Dr Ashti Hawrami, Minister for Natural Resources, KRG.

“We are delighted by this confirmation and we look forward to working to ensure the June 1 export deadline is now met.”
