Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) has issued an update of gas production from its South Pars fields for 2008 and early 2009. A total of 52 billion ft3 was produced from all of the operational wells, with a resulting total of 46 billion ft3 of refined gas – a record for the company.

“In 2008 and early 2009, sweet gas produced in the refinery of phase one came to 6.7 billion ft3; refineries at phase two and three were 18.6 billion ft3; phase four and five were18.5 billion ft3; and finally phase nine and ten were 2.3 billion ft3,” said Mohammed Reza Abdiaei, public relations manager, POGC.

“The gas was injected into the overall gas pipeline, and it was also used in the Pars Special Energy Zone. It is noteworthy that the Amount of gas produced in this time is considered to be a record in the history of POGC activities, accounting for over 40% of Iran’s total gas production,” he added.

The Pars Special Energy Zone was responsible for the supply of feedstock to the South Pars petrochemical complex and paved grounds for exporting gas condensate via the Assaluyeh export terminal to countries like Singapore and the UAE.
