Iran has sent a delegation of high ranking oil and gas officials to Beijing this week, to discuss Chinese involvement in Iranian oil and gas projects, according to news site Reuters. The move comes just one week after a temporary deal was struck between Iran and the P5+1 nations to ease international sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
China is Iran’s biggest trade partner and its biggest oil customer, and I ran is keen to encourage closer collaboration between the two countries.
China is responsible for approximately half of Iran’s oil exports since international sanctions against Iran were tightened in 2012.
