The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is taking advantage of lower project build costs and is pressing ahead with crucial energy and particularly gas projects, cementing its position as a member of elite energy capitals worldwide, announced Ismail Al Ramahi, gas processing manager for ADNOC today.
Speaking from the Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex in the UAE capital, Al Ramahi stressed that Abu Dhabi, through the activities of the ADNOC group of companies, has proved itself to be at the forefront of gas processing technology. “ADNOC is already a global pioneer in the gas sector, particularly in the emerging fields of sour gas processing and CO2 injection, delivering real advances and frontier developments,” he said.
“Gas is one of the fastest growing industries worldwide, and the pace at which it has been growing will accelerate in the years ahead. ADNOC is a major player in this field, and will continue to be at the forefront of technological capabilities and research to drive this forward.”
Speaking of the upcoming Gastech 2009 conference in Abu Dhabi, Al Ramahi took the opportunity to stress that whilst the event takes place amidst a gloomy financial backdrop, these turbulent economic times should be seen as a way for Abu Dhabi, and its gas project partners, to press on with project schedules whilst maintaining better value for money cost control.
“We must seize the opportunity to build at a lower cost and possibly better quality, because the bidding process is much more competitive in today’s economic climate.”
He reiterated that whilst demand growth for gas may be dipping in light of a global reduction in industrial activity, ADNOC is positioning itself for the inevitable upswing. “ADNOC will emerge from this recession stronger, and we will be ready to fill the role of a premier gas player in the energy matrix worldwide.”
Gastech 2009 is the largest international conference and exhibition for the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries in 2009. Hosted by ADNOC the event runs from 25-28 May, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
