Qatar’s marine transport and logistics conglomerate Milaha announced on Sunday the appointment of Abdulrahman Essa Al-Mannai as president and chief executive officer, effective today.
Al-Mannai succeeds Khalifa Ali Al-Hetmi, who in August announced his plans to retire after seven years as the company CEO.
Al-Mannai previously led the commercial planning and allocation functions at Qatargas. During his time with Qatargas, Al-Mannai was in charge of the commercial function of UK’s South Hook LNG Terminal, which is Europe’s largest LNG regasification terminal and handles a significant percentage of the UK’s gas requirements.
He brings extensive experience in LNG, gas-to-liquids, condensates, shipping and commercial marketing, and has demonstrated a strong record of success, Milaha said in a statement.
“Given his robust commercial background, his experience in many of our core sectors, and his record of performance at Qatargas, the Board and I have full confidence in his abilities to continue Milaha’s strong performance and lead our future growth plans” said Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, the company’s chairman.
“We are very pleased and excited to have Mr. Al-Mannai join the Milaha family, and look forward to his leadership in continuing our journey of sustainable growth.”
“I’m extremely humbled and proud to be entrusted with this opportunity by Milaha’s Board of Directors,” Al-Mannai commented on his appointment.
“Milaha is an institution in Qatar and an integral part of Qatar’s economy, and I share Milaha’s ambition to continue to expand its horizons in Qatar and abroad,” he added.
