Iranian official said dropping gas condensate exports have nothing to do with the new sanctions imposed on the country, Iran’s Mehr agency has reported.Â
Director of the International Affairs Department at National Iranian Oil Company Mohsen Ghamsari said: “The imposition of the sanctions was not a new issue. We have been faced with such issues over the past years.”Â
In 2H 2012 after sanctions were imposed, the country’s gas condensate exports plunged to below 195,000 barrels per day from a previous 260,000 bpd.
But reports indicate that the country sold 9.741mn tonnes (equivalent of about 448,000 barrels) of gas condensates per day from January 20 to July 20, during the six-month interim nuclear deal when sanctions on Iran’s exports were temporarily eased.Â
Iranian Oil Minister BIjan Namdar Zanganeh has said that the U.S.-led sanctions will not affect Tehran’s gas condensate exports.Â
“Sanctions on gas condensates have already been in place. They’ve just announced it officially now. So, the sanctions won’t affect Iran’s exports,” he said, Iran’s IRNA News Agency reported.
“We do not recognize these sanctions”, Zanganeh added.
