The Offshore Arabia conference and exhibition, has officially received the support and participation of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

This was confirmed during the meeting of Khamis Juma Bu Amim chief executive of the Regional Clean Sea Organisation (RECSO) and chairman of offshore Arabia Abdulsalam al Madani, the president of Index Holding, with HE Abdullah Salem Al-Badri, Secretary General of OPEC in the Austrian capital Vienna, where he received the final report and the shield of offshore Arabia 2009 as a gratitude of thanks for the support and excellent contribution of “OPEC” to this regional and international conference over the past five years.

AlBadri confirmed, OPEC support and participation on the upcoming offshore Arabia conference and Exhibition 2010 and the importance of such gathering in the oil and gas industry and the protection of energy and environment. The organisation will also promote the event within its members. The event is scheduled to be held between 29th and 31st March 2010 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The unlimited support given by all national and international bodies and companies, institutions and authorities to Offshore Arabia conference and exhibition establishes the importance of this kind of conference. Offshore Arabia 2010 will be held under the theme: Global Partners for Energy and Environment- Change and Challenges 2010,” said Khamis Juma Bu-Amim.

“In the Gulf region, the challenge we face is the sustainability of the Gulf waters, which in turn sustain us today. The management of resources and protection of the environment and especially the marine environment is a vital part and a question of existence for the future generations. Living within our means should be a strategic issue; we can not continue to ignore the crucial importance of sustainable development to the economies of the regions,” added Bu-Amim.
