Local newsparer the Gulf News reported that the plant will process 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day from Umm Shaif, an offshore field, andwill form part of the massive Integrated Gas Development (IGD) Project.

“The project we signed today on behalf of ADNOC is a major milestone which reflects ADGAS new vision and commitment to participate in the country’s national energy strategy, within an integrated project that also involves ADMA-OPCO and GASCO,” Fahim Kazim, ADGAS GM, said at the signing ceremony.

“Due to the limited area on Das Island, we had to reclaim an additional 108,000 square metres of land for the project facilities and to build a 100 metre-long jetty for offloading of heavy 1,500-tonne modules,” he added.

The project is expected to take 49 months to complete.

Adgas is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Total, BP and Mitsui & Co.
