Emerson Process Management has worked with Kuwait Oil Company to develop a training programme that helps new engineers develop skills needed to maintain a running oil production facility in northern Kuwait.Â
Developed under a contract that KOC awarded to Emerson in May 2013, the prorgramme is expected to lead to further cooperation between the companies, says Emerson Process Management in a statement released at the Global Users Exchange forum currently being hosted in Grapevine, Texas.Â
As part of the contract, Emerson’s Educational Services team has launched a new aspect of customer training called Workfroce Effectiveness. This segment begins with an assessment of the customer’s needs and continues with the development of a plan tailored to address those needs and wraps up with measurement of the results.Â
The 19-week “boot camp” programme designed for KOC covers field instrumentation, the DeltaV automation system and cyber secutiy, as well as process control, including advanced control and complex control strategies. The training will be conducted at Emerson’s regional training centers in the U.S. at both Austin, Texas and Marshalltown, Iowa.Â
“We are seeing more customers engage in a broad course of training for their newer employees,” said Dorothy Hellberg, director of Emerson Process Management’s Educational Services. “As customers expand their engineering staff to replace experienced retiring employees or to staff new facilities, condensed training programs are critical to smooth project execution and continuing operations.”
