Momentum Engineering has scooped a trophy for Offshore Project of the Year at the 2011 Oil and Gas Middle East awards, for its installation of an offshore DANA Light Weight Structure using a jack-up drilling rig.

Judges commended the company on its innovative installation methods, having demonstrated the technical capability of the local industry on the world stage in delivering a project of immense value.

Collecting the award, Managing Director and CEO James C Larsen said: “Our team put together a very cost-effective means of installing a platform without a derrick barge, and although we’ve done it in the past, this one was an exceptional achievement. Petronas was extremely pleased with the project, and I think it was recognised by judges for being a successful and innovative installation.”

The project’s structure weighed 300 tonnes at load out, and Momentum also achieved 150,000 man-hours on the project without a single lost-time incident.
