Jimmy Larsen, Deputy Managing Director of Momentum Engineering was on hand to accept the Oil & Gas Middle East award for Best International Collaboration of 2011 at a packed gala ceremony in Dubai last night.

The category was open to any upstream collaboration in the Middle East which delivered exceptional performance in the calendar year to the Awards.

In collaboration with Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore China and TSC Offshore China the team won the award for its Jackup drilling construction project for Dragon Oil – Turkmenistan in the Caspian Sea.

“CIMC is the largest purchaser of steel in the world, and TSC is one of the new drilling equipment manufacturers in the market so a combination with Momentum Engineering was a fantastic marriage,” said Larsen.

“We’ve harnessed our location and capabilities to offer a truly global product, which wasn’t without logistical challenges, but certainly, from our clients point of view, it was a great combination,” he added.

The collaborative effort saw off shortlisted competition from the South Rub Al Khali Company (Shell & Saudi Aramco) – For its exploration work in Saudi Arabia, and Occidental and Mubadala Oil & Gas for its exploration work in Bahrain.

Larsen added that the Award, from Oil & Gas Middle East, was a great validation of what was a fantastic project.
“We are delighted with how this has panned out and it’s a great entry point for us in terms of showing future customers what, and how well we can deliver these projects.”
