Dow’s entities that are operating in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) have recently been awarded the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification from Dubai Customs, as part of Dow’s global strategy to participate in customs security programmes.
Introduced by Dubai Customs in collaboration with the UAE Federal Customs Authority, the programme has been designed to boost trade security and create seamless commercial links between the UAE and the rest of the world.
“The UAE AEO programme will provide Dow with a strong competitive advantage to better serve its customers in the region through a secure, expedited and streamlined supply chain process,” said Moosa Al-Moosa, president of Dow in the UAE and finance director – India, Middle East, Africa and Turkey. “We have a history spanning three decades of doing business in the UAE and the government has consistently supported us by extending an environment which is conducive to commercial activities,” added Al-Moosa.
Aimed at demonstrating the quality and reliability of company processes, procedures, systems, competencies and security measures involved in international trade, the AEO certification process provides companies with a host of commercial benefits, including faster customer clearance, prioritisation in inspections, reduced post-clearance audits and a dedicated customers key account manager.
Ihab Elia, logistics and ITO director – India, Middle East and Africa, Dow, said: “As the world becomes a smaller place driven by globalisation, the importance of efficient trade processes has increased tremendously, with industries looking for the quickest and smartest means to do business securely. The AEO certification acknowledges this need and facilitates trade between our key entities in a timely manner, thus allowing us to address our customer needs competently.”
Delivering a broad range of technologies to local customers across many industries, including packaging, building and construction, oil and gas, and agriculture, Dow has been present for more than 30 years in the UAE. The country serves as the hub for Dow’s growing business and organisational presence in India, Middle East, Africa and Turkey region.
