Petrofac trains 75 Saudi workers in Jazan Refinery

Workers were trained in construction site and refinery safety

Petrofac announced on Wednesday it trained 75 young Saudi employees for work in the Jazan Refinery site in Saudi Arabia.

The engineering, procurement and construction firm said it supervised the training from its Khobar office in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province.

The 13-month courses consisted of oil and gas technical English and math, welding, carpentry, pipe fitting, plumbing, and metal working.

Trainees received 46 classroom hours of construction site and oil refinery safety, as well as leadership skills in communications and teamwork to prepare them for working at the Jazan Refinery site.

This week, the Saudi employees will receive on-the-job training in construction skills at the Jazan Refinery in Baish, in the southwest of Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea, Petrofac said in a statement.

“Master craftsmen and mentors in construction, along with instructors from Petrofac’s training department, will supervise the learning so that the young Saudis can practice their skills in a safe work environment at the Baish site and contribute to the progress of this vital project,” the company added.

The program is called Saudi Arabia Work Experience (SAWE), and it is one of the Saudization platforms of Petrofac’s Saudi Future Generation Program that has employed and trained 142 Saudi male engineers and female IT, Contracts, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Project Controls personnel over the past two years.
