A leading official from Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (Adwea) has said that the utilities giant will be inviting bids for the Taweelah C project by the end of 2009.
News agency Reuters reported that the project will be Adwea’s ninth independent water and power project (IWPP) and that requests for proposals will be issued as soon as refinancing of Shuweihat 2, the eighth IWPP is finished.
“There is good response from banks and we expect to close the financing by October,” Abdulla Saif al-Nuami, director of privatisation for Adwea is reported as saying.
Al-Nuami is also reported as saying that the Taweelah C project will result in an an extra 1500MW of power being added to the Abu-Dhabi grid and 100 million gallons a day of water being added to supply.
