Aramco top list of world's oil companies (again)

Petroleum Intelligence Weekly has recently released it’s list of the world’s 50 largest oil companies and to the absolute astonishment of the whole hydrocarbons industry, Saudi Aramco finished in the number one position.

However, officials from Iraq’s oil industry are saying that it won’t be long before the big daddy of the oil world is knocked off it’s perch by its neighbouring Gulf state. Considering that the Iraq National Oil Company (INOC) finished in 24th place on the list we’d think that Aramco won’t be losing any sleep for some time soon.

There are also some anomalies on the list. ADNOC in 18th place? Qatar Petroleum in 22nd? What’s that all about?

Here are the top 10 from this year’s list.

  1. Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia)
  2. NIOC (Iran)
  3. Exxon Mobil (US)
  4. PDV (Venezuela)
  5. CNPC (China)
  6. BP (UK)
  7. Shell (UK/Netherlands)
  8. ConocoPhillips (US)
  9. Chevron (US)
  10. Total (France)
