Awards 2017: Commemorating energy industry is celebrating life

We are extremely pleased that DIA33 is able to sponsor the O&GME and RPME Awards this year, comments Nadeem Raza, group CEO, DIA33

How big a role do you think the O&GME and RPME Awards, now in its 8th year, play in recognising and rewarding laudable work in the regional industry?

Awards and recognitions are entailed as an opportunity to display, recognise and inspire the achievers, passionate and ambitious inventers, collaborators, contributors and developers in any industry.

The efforts of O&GME and RPME to limelight those deserving few is a commendable work with a gesture to be the voice of those, who must be heard, and whose voice shall only make the lives of people better.

We applaud the role and objective of O&GME and RPME for being a fair voice of the industry in showcasing organisations and individuals for their commendable achievements.

Why, according to you, is it important to celebrate success in the energy industry?

Energy is the metaphor of global fabric. Anything and everything, depends on energy in its various forms. From food to shelter, from clothing to comfort, from travel to explore, energy industry has transformed the world and whole concept of living. Whatever it may, commemorating energy industry is no less than celebrating life.

What is it about the Awards that made you decide to sponsor it?

We are in a difficult marketplace with unyielding cost pressures, product proliferation and regulatory scrutiny. In this scenario, we believe in empowering those who are pioneering innovative approaches to business, environment and sustainability, and as a chemical distribution company, DIA33 is, therefore, delighted to support the Awards by promoting awareness about the important work of this year’s roster of winners.

Considering it is your first time as a sponsor, do you agree that the Awards truly recognise quality work and talent in the industry?

Yes, we have been seeing the growth and practice of the Awards from last five years. We are sponsoring the prestigious award category of ‘Downstream Project of the Year’, as it particularly shows the development of this industry and its value not just within the Middle East but across the global refining and petrochemicals market.

How far do you think our efforts to highlight downstream operations, along with recognising achievements in the upstream segment, through the Awards are justified?

Downstream operations include refining, processing and converting crude into thousands of products which are essential for producing millions of finished products used by human race globally.

However, such processes also produce many by-products like sour gas and sulphur, and it is important that such by-products are handled efficiently, and those involved to manage the waste really help in making the planet greener.

Recognising logistics service providers is a very rational approach while applauding the manufacturers as these service providers are the only ones who actually deliver what you aspire to have at your doorstep. This observation is applicable to all award categories relevant to the downstream operations.
