ADIPEC 2017 preview Q&A: ADOS

Interviewee: Jamal Musallam Al-Mazrouei, vice chairman, Abu Dhabi Oilfield Services (ADOS)

What is your company’s scope of business within the oil and gas industry?

ADOS is a technology and services provider to the energy industry. Through our multiple manufacturing and servicing facilities in the UAE, we provide solutions to maximise the value of our clients’ resources, from exploration, drilling, and production, to refining, processing, and distribution.

In which countries in the Middle East are you most active, and how do you plan to expand your reach in the region?

Although we operate throughout the Middle East and Africa region, the UAE has been – and will always be – our primary and core market. We are currently expanding our local manufacturing and service capabilities within the UAE.

In addition to the recently opened ADOS Service Centre in the Western Region, our new manufacturing facility in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) is currently under construction, targeted for completion in Q3 2018.

Which clients do you work with in the region, and what oil and gas projects have you been involved with recently?

Since its foundation 45 years ago, ADOS has been a strategic partner for the ADNOC group of companies. We have contributed to all the major projects within the ADNOC group, including the UZ-750 at ZADCO, and the recent expansions at Takreer and Borouge.

Why did you decide to participate in ADIPEC 2017?

ADIPEC is an event we eagerly look forward to engaging in every year. It allows us to connect with partners and clients, as well as to learn about the industry’s latest and upcoming technologies.

What are the main products or services that you will be showcasing at ADIPEC?

Along with our partners, we have invested in developing solutions over the last few years in services and products that will enable clients to capture significant cost efficiencies. Therefore, we will focus on those at ADIPEC this year. Among the solutions we will present will be a product that will cut rig time by 30%, and a technology upgrade that has been proven to significantly reduce water consumption in upstream applications.

What are your objectives for ADIPEC this year? Are you looking at the trade event as more of a networking platform, or do you aim to generate new business during the exhibition?

Our objective is to share new technologies, connect with our clients, and network with our partners.

How successful do you think ADIPEC will be this year, bearing in mind the current market circumstances caused by low oil prices?

We are confident that ADIPEC will be very successful this year. The market is in the process of balancing itself – companies that have learned to be dynamic and adapt efficiently to the changes will be eager to participate and showcase their successes.

Considering the fact that we are approaching the end of 2017, how has business been for your company this year? And what are your plans and goals for 2018?

Despite it being a challenging year, we will achieve our targets – thanks to the relentless efforts of all the teams within the ADOS group of companies.

Looking ahead, we are very optimistic about 2018, as we have a number of ambitious projects in the pipeline. We will continue to invest in local manufacturing, and expand our offering to include sustainable energy solutions.

Finally, as part of our commitment to having a positive impact on the global and local community, we will increase our efforts to engage further in volunteering, education, disaster relief, community development, and youth empowerment programmes.
