ADNOC Distribution showcases clean energy drive

ADNOC Distribution currently operates a natural gas distribution network of 45km in the emirate of Abu Dhabi

ADNOC Distribution showcased its environment friendly initiatives and achievements as part of its participation at the 9th edition of World Future Energy Summit from 18-21 January – one of the key events at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2016.

ADNOC Distribution currently operates a natural gas distribution network of 45km in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to a network of 25 service stations that are fitted out with dedicated fuelling pumps for vehicles running on natural gas (NGV).

The company currently retails natural gas to residential and commercial customers and caters cars that run on natural gas fuel.

“ADNOC Distribution has adopted a leading project to provide natural gas as alternative fuel for vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in addition to also retailing conventional fuels,” Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of ADNOC Distribution, said.

“Furthermore, the company provides required conversion facilities to enable vehicles to run on natural gas fuels towards ensuring a cleaner and safer environment. We aim through such initiatives to implement sustainability measures in our daily operations. We are keen to increase the geographical footprint of this project and step-up the number of service stations equipped to provide natural gas fuel as part of our ongoing expansion strategy,” Al Dhaheri added.

“In order to cater for the increasing demand, we will double the number of service stations providing natural gas for vehicles in the next five years – taking their number to 70 service stations by 2020,” he revealed.

Natural gas for vehicles is considered one of the world’s cleanest and safest types of fuel when compared to traditional alternatives.
