Italian oil major Eni said its Zubair field operations in Iraq have so far been unaffected by the conflict in the country; a spokesman for the company said yesterday.
“We are keeping essential personnel in place,” he said.
In the past week, other oil and gas companies operating in Iraq have made statements concerning the state of their affairs in the troubled nation.
Earlier in the week BP’s chief executive officer, Bob Dudley, told reporters in Moscow that the company’s operations in Iraq have been unaffected by the ongoing crisis in Iraq.
“We are just very vigilant in Iraq. Non-essential production people have left but operations continue,” said Dudley.
Dudley’s follows a statement released by UAE-based energy firm, Dana Gas, saying that its Kurdistan operations have not been hindered by the recent fighting in Iraq.
“Dana Gas’ operations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq continue uninterrupted in light of recent events in Iraq. All our facilities and people are safe and there have been no incidents affecting our operations,” said the company.
An insurgent offensive which has threatened to breakup Iraq spread to the northwest of the country on Sunday, after fighters seized Mosul and stormed several towns on the road to Baghdad last week.
