Tendeka’s Technologies Drive Operational Efficiency

New technologies have been at the heart of the global oil & gas industry’s drive to realise the potential of the world’s newly-discovered reserves, helping overcome the challenges of operating in increasingly challenging environments involving more complex reservoirs.

Simultaneously, operators have been examining methods of maximising output from their more mature assets – with reservoir monitoring forming a critical part of that effort.

Events in recent years in oil & gas have ensured that safety continues to remain front of mind for all within the industry, and it is against this backdrop that companies like Tendeka have been developing ever more advanced technologies to ensure efficiency and safety of operations are optimised.

As part of this process the company has developed a number of industry-leading downhole monitoring systems, including Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) and downhole pressure gauges.

Among the most recent additions to its product line are the FloQuest and DataHub systems, which can be used either in isolation or in combination.

FloQuest has been designed by industry specialists who are constantly using the software and adding new features as the technology grows. The software is used for a number of different purposes; from producing in-depth analysis reports, quick well monitoring, Distributed Temperature Sensing QA/QC and helping to get videos, charts and numerical data for presentations.

FloQuest can be run as an independent tool or used in conjunction with other data sources. It is also possible to visualise log traces, point pressure and point temperature data. FloQuest has built in intelligence enabling it to interact with these data types to help with both depth and temperature calibration.

The FloQuest software goes beyond the realms of a standard DTS visualisation tool by providing comprehensive modelling and archiving capabilities.

FloQuest is capable of monitoring data relative to the varied characteristics of a well, from basic information such as well type and well trajectory, to intricate details of the completion strings and on to the ever-changing wellbore temperature and pressure.

These values are then used in providing accurate inflow, temperature and pressure models.
Datahub is a fully-programmed database structured around distributed datasets (such as Distributed Temperature Sensing), with additional data loading and management applications and an easily-accessible interface.

Web-based user interaction will typically be restricted to administrators while Distributed Temperature Sensing datasets for interpretation and processing would be accessed from an application which communicates with the database over an API.

Data is transferred into DataHub from one of several different transport mechanisms (either pulled from a Lightbox by Datahub or pushed from the Lightbox using HTTPS).

Once in the DataHub, FloQuest or other applications can consume the datasets.

There would also be some element of storage at the Lightbox location to allow data buffering in the event that the network between the remote site and Datahub were to fail.

Either in isolation, or in partnership, both of these systems have the capability to improve the efficiency and safety of on and offshore operations by providing a clear picture of the behaviour of a well, enabling for more well informed mission-critical decisions to be taken and optimise reservoir recovery.
