Wood Mackenzie has recently launched its innovative online Upstream Company Valuation (UCV) tool, the latest addition to the company’s suite of online products harnessing the capability of its flagship Global Economic Model (GEM).
In a volatile price environment, where competition for opportunities is intense, being able to assess company and asset opportunities quickly, accurately and easily is essential. With the release of UCV, Wood Mackenzie now offers access to a corporate valuation tool which claims to offer that capability.
Powered by GEM – an economic modelling platform for the industry, developed by WoodMac – the UCV online tool speeds up the time to screen investment and divestment opportunities. The tool also gives clients the ability to perform price and operational sensitivity analysis.
UCV takes the historic and forward-looking proprietary data in GEM to quickly deliver reliable upstream company valuations from an integrated, easy-to-use interface on the Wood Mackenzie portal, simplifying company analysis.
“UCV harnesses the rigour of GEM and the strength and depth of Wood Mackenzie’s research capability, giving users the ability to perform corporate valuations with a simple targeted workflow,” Donald Perreira, director – Petroleum Economics, at Wood Mackenzie, said.
From UCV’s intuitive ‘click-and-tick’ platform, users can tailor their analysis, enabling them to test the economics of companies under their own price assumptions. Key to UCV’s functionality is the ability to generate and export detailed consolidated company and regime reports to the MS Excel format, for further analysis.
Users can assess cash flow profiles, portfolio robustness and capital expenditure profiles. UCV also allows the user to benchmark the performance of a group of companies, to screen M&A opportunities and to identify possible portfolio strategies.
Complementing UCV is the online Upstream Asset Valuation (UAV) tool, also available via the client portal. UAV is a web-based asset valuation tool that allows clients to quickly create and test tailored asset valuations, enabling them to confidently identify and assess growth opportunities.
Like UCV, UAV’s functionality is underpinned by GEM’s fiscal models and the depth of Wood Mackenzie’s insightful data. The tools also contain historical data, critical to modelling project economics.
