Galfar bags $110mn Khazzan Gas contract

Company will build and install gas gathering system

Galfar Engineering and Contracting has announced that it has won a contract to build and install a gas gathering system at the huge Khazzan Gas project in Oman.

The firm said that the contract is worth $110mn and involves the construction of duplex stainless steel (DSS) pipelines including main headers, sub-headers and flowlines.

The company, which has also announced a $56mm deal to clear the site of the Duqm refinery this week, said the work is expected to take 40 months to complete.

This is the second contract that Galfar has been awarded at the Khazan gas project – one of the world’s biggest onshore gas fields, which is being developed by BP under a $16bn, 30-year deal with the Oman government.

In March, the company was also awarded a $10mn deal to install new powerlines to the project from a nearby substation owned by Petroleum Development Oman.

Last year, BP awarded Jacobs Engineering Group a $2bn deal to deliver process and infrastructure works, and Petrofac a $1.2bn deal to build a central processing facility.
