Oman hosts first ever offshore conference

Experts from around the region will meet in Muscat in December

Oman hosts its first ever offshore development conference in Muscat.

Oil and gas bosses will come under one roof at Offshore Development Oman 2014 between 9th and 10th of December to discuss new developments and future trends in the sultanate’s offshore industry.

The event will focus on the expanding market and the technological challenges associated with developing oil and gas resources safely and cost effectively.

The offshore industry in Oman is undergoing a rapid development after the recent drilling success to the east of Oman.

Earlier this month Oman signed an exploration and production agreement with the independent Indonesian exploration firm Medco Energi and Intak, and Omani service provider.

In 2013 the sultanate also signed a deep-water offshore drilling agreement with France’s Total.

Key operators participating at the conference include DNO Oman, Petroleum Development Oman, Petrogas, ADMA-OPCO, ADCO, Technip, and others.

Maneesh Nair, conference director of Global Exhibitions & Conferences, said “We are enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with Ministry of Oil and Gas with the goal of rapidly accelerating the growth of the offshore Oil & Gas sector in Oman.

“The offshore hydrocarbon sector is experiencing phenomenal growth due to the resurgence of exploration and drilling in the east of Oman,” he added.
