Five Emirati nationals, working for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), have simultaneously graduated as Professional Level members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
According to state news agency WAM, the five, who work in the finance divisions of ADNOC’s operating companies, the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations (ADCO) and Zakum Development Company (ZADCO), are: Abdul Rahman Ahmed Ali, Huda Abdulla Al Hanaee, Salem Abdulla Al Tenaiji, Wafa Al Katheeri, and Khawla S Alameri.
“A key part of our 2030 strategy is our investment in up-skilling our people to give them the tools to succeed and perform at the highest levels, as we build a world class workforce,” Aysha Binshabib Al Marzooqi, ADCO’s finance support manager (Assets), was quoted as saying by WAM.
“Training professionally qualified accountants builds our national talent and is an important part of our long term commitment to the development of our Emirati talent,” she said.
ADNOC’s achievement can be measured by the fact there are just 17 Emiratis holding ACCA membership, or the equivalent UAE Chartered Accountant Qualification (UAECA) in the UAE, ten of whom are based in Abu Dhabi.
The ACCA is an international professional accountancy body that works across countries worldwide, and includes more than 188,000 fully qualified members and 480,000 students in 178 countries. Students must pass a programme of 14 exams to qualify as Professional Level members of ACCA.
