0.00 What is your role at Parker?
I am the general manager for Parker Middle East. One of my main responsibilities is to empower my staff to do their jobs well. From a business perspective it is my job to grow the business and we are certainly doing that. We hope to double our sales revenues in the coming three to four years. I see Parker becoming one of the most important sales companies, not only in the region but also in Europe and the US. The future is very promising.
1.05 Which areas are you targeting for growth?
We are targeting growth in Saudi Arabia, but we are also looking at Iraq to fuel our growth. The security situation is tricky but for oil and gas, but business in Iraq has to continue. Many EPC contractors who have business interests in Iraq have their head offices here in the UAE. So, they are able to do a lot of the work. Iran is also a huge potential market.
2.55 What trends are you seeing developing within the downstream sector?
Things are very positive so far. It will continue to be so for the next three to five years, especially regarding the expansion projects that are going on. Parker as a company is 60,000 people strong with a turnover of $13bn. We are focusing on the oil, gas and petrochemicals industries but we are also a leader in the smelting and construction industries. Expo 2020 will bring a huge boom to our business. We are a diversified manufacturer. Our strongest country is the UAE, we have a lot of manufacturers here in the UAE. Even though the projects might take place in Saudi or other places, the products are manufactures here in the UAE. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are very important to this region.
3.35 There is a big focus on HSE – how does Parker approach HSE?
In the oil and gas industry there is no room for compromise on safety. The risk is very high. oil companies are now very much focused on the safety of their staff. The Middle East is part of the world and when you talk about companies that are in this region, you are talking about international companies. The companies have the same approach to HSE regardless of whether you are in Dubai or the North Sea.
4.10 What are Parker going to be doing at Adipec this year?
This is the third time that we will be participating in Adipec. It was a great success for us and it is very important event which enables us to showcase our capabilities the oil, gas and petrochemicals industry.
