Oman’s Ministry of Oil and Gas is expected to double gas prices charged to cement companies from the 1st of January 2015.
The claims came in two separate statements made by cement firms based in the sultanate on Sunday, Zawya news agency has reported.
Oman Cement warned the price hike would increase its costs next year by $17.22mn in a filing to Muscat’s stock exchange.
Raysut Cement was the other company confirming gas prices would double next year, which will raise its gas costs by about $11.7mn in 2015.
Oman Cement said prices will be raised at the start of every year at rates specified by the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
Raysut said gas prices would rise by 3% per year or by rates specified by the ministry.
