The bidding deadlines for the US$10 billion Shah gas field development are expected to be extended sources close to the bidding process have said.
Reuters reported that contractors bidding on the project, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and the US oil company ConocoPhillips, have been given different deadlines depending on which package they are bidding for.
“Officially we have not been informed of any extension, bids are going on,” one contractor is quoted by Reuters as saying.
“We are expecting an extension but we are not sure they will do it or not, competition is very harsh…The project will be extended a little bit,” another contractor told Reuters.
However, Ali al-Murar, senior vice president for support services at the joint-venture told Reuters that no contractor had asked for an extension and that the project was moving according to schedule.
When completed the Shah sour gas development is set to process 1 billion cubic feet per day of sour gas from 20 wells. ADNOC is the major shareholder with a 60% stake with ConocoPhillips holding the remaining 40%.
