Sharjah National Oil Company (SNOC) said that it would delay the start of production from the Mahani gas project by as much as two months due to the coronavirus outbreak.
“In terms of the Mahani project… we are progressing everything according to plan… nonetheless we are expecting some minor delays in the startup, still our intention is to have production online before the end of the year,” SNOC CEO Hatem El Mosa said, noting that the delay would likely be a month or two.
Meanwhile, its partner ENI is reviewing its Middle East projects, but said that the Mahani project would not be impacted. Mahani 1 was the first gas discovery made in Sharjah in thirty years.
“We have completed all our procurement activities on Mahani and what could go late is of course the execution of the project… As that requires the presence of people and we all know what is happening around the world,” said Andrea Cozzi, managing director of ENI Sharjah.
SNOC also recently announced that it awarded the $40 million Moveyeid Gas Storage Surface Facility project to Petrofac Facilities Management.
