Equate awards $39mn headquarter contract to KCPC

Kuwaiti contractor said work will take two years to complete

Kuwaiti contractor KCPC has picked up a $39mn contract from Equate Petrochemical Company to build a new headquarters in the Al Ahmadi area of the country close to the major refineries.

Equate Petrochemical Co was set up in 1997 and is a partnership between Petrochemical Industries Company, Dow Chemical Co, Boubyan Petrochemcial Co and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Co.

It operates a refinery which currently manufactures over 5m tons of petrochemical products a month.

KCPC said work on the new headquarters would take two years to complete.

Meanwhile, Mushrif Trading and Contracting has won a $14.5m civil works package from Fluor Corporation and KNPC at the Mina Abdullah Refinery.

The refinery being upgraded as part of Kuwait’s $12bn Clean Fuels Project. Fluor led a consortium including Daewoo Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Heavy Industries Co to design, build and commission the $3.4bn package 2 of the Mina Abdullah refinery works last year.

Mushrif said its element of the work starts on site next month and will take two months to complete.

The majority of the work is related to the installation of pipe rack foundations and sleepers, structural steel erection and the supply and installation of underground piping.
