The Islamic Republic of Iran’s annual gas exports revenues will reach 20-25 billion dollars in the coming years said Iranian minister of petroleum, Rostam Qasemi.

According to the report from the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Iran is currently exporting oil products, gas and petrochemical products to more than 40 countries around the world.

“We plan to expand gas deals with other countries such as those we concluded with Pakistan and Iraq or a number of contracts with other countries which negotiations are underway in order to finalize them,” the Minister added.

The state owned-gas company has also announced that thhe second and largest gas storage facility in Iran, and the Middle East will come online in near future.

Managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Owji, said that the Shorijeh gas storage facility as the largest gas storage facility in the country will stock more than 700 million cubic meters of gas for possible withdrawal during the coming winter. The storage facility could take 10 million cubic meters of gas per day in the first phase and will yield 20 million cubic meters per day when it is needed.

Upon completion of its second phase, the facility will be able to take 20 million cubic meters and deliver 40 million cubic meters of gas per day.

“Gas storage capacity of Shorijeh facility stands at 4.6 billion cubic meters”, he said, adding upon launching.

The country’s first gas storage facility with 3.3 billion cubic meters capacity was inaugurated last year in Serajeh, near Qom city. 

Owji also revealed that “currently the development plans of 20 joint oil and gas fields are underway.”
