The firm has reported a major increase in enquiries from private organisations about security vessels, and believes it is due to the treat of piracy.

“With the recent piracy incidents in the Gulf of Aden and neighboring areas there is a growing concern about potential future threats and attacks. Commercial companies are considering investing in security vessels that can assist in protecting their assets and cargo from attempted piracy attacks and threats,” commented ADSB vice president marketing William Stewart.

“Multi-national navies will continue to take the lead in combating piracy but recent trends show us that shipping companies and their insurers are looking for additional ways to protect their assets. Through the range of vessels from 10m to 55m, in conjunction with our worldwide strategic partners, ADSB can provide a style of vessel to meet all the requirements of these commercial organisations,” he added.

In February this year, ADSB signed an US$125 million contract to provide 34 high speed interceptor vessels for the UAE’s non-military organisation, the Critical National Infrastructure Authority.
